Fired up for What's Ahead!
It’s another year and as Hackers Guild we are anxious about all the activities lined up through the year. To start with the Rural Coding Series which started on the 31st Dec 2017 and ended on the 13th Jan 2018 was one of its kind. The impact on the children was unexplainable. Both the Girls Can Code and Boys Can Code were hosted in Solwezi and they are an achievement to look back at and inspire us to do even more.
What’s really interesting about this year is that we intend to have as many Makerfaires and Hackathons as possible so that we involve the Community initiatives for the “Social good”. We shall also host Dev Shops which will be a place for developers to share experiences and tools.
Also, we are finalizing on the selection of the Boot Camp applicants. The deadline for applications which was supposed to be on the 1st January was extended and we are happy to realize that many more people had a chance to apply.
The Boot Camp Will Commence in February and we can’t wait to start this journey of Full Stack Web Development with another group of potential Developers.
To add on, the Computer club program which was launched in Lusaka last year will this term be done on the Copperbelt. We are done with Schools in Lusaka and finally moving on to the Copperbelt with the hope to reach as many schools as possible.
Our trainers are all fired up and ready to hit the road that will contribute to the spread of coding knowledge to the upcoming generation.
Our fellows have also continued to learn and practice on actual projects as they have been divided into two groups which are meant to help them further specialize in web and Android.
